Get what YOU want from your next reimaging program
Manufacturer-mandated reimaging programs aren’t necessarily “one-size-fits-all.” Did you know you often can negotiate with manufacturer’s representatives to make sure your remodel fits YOUR needs? By getting your construction team involved at the early stages, contractors with auto dealer experience can identify and recommend alternatives that can save you time and money. Most importantly, experienced contractors can help you work with your manufacturer to create a facility aligned with YOUR business vision.
Contractors can participate in pre-construction planning meetings with you and the manufacturer. There, the contractor and their architect can recommend value engineering options that work in your favor while respecting strict factory branding standards. Construction teams with experience working with auto dealers and reimaging programs provide knowledge of areas – large and small – that can provide value in the construction process. Here are some examples.
If your dealership is in a smaller market, the manufacturer may be willing to reduce space requirements in their standard reimaging package. Your sales volume and showroom traffic may not necessitate the standard showroom or waiting room square footage or number of service bays. Don’t be afraid to ask whether reducing size is an option.
Dual brand dealerships typically must represent the strict standards of each distinct brand. However, in certain cases, manufacturers may be willing to allow dealers to modify materials and use the same millwork, tile, etc. for both brands.
Even small details can be adjusted to realize cost savings. For example, slightly reducing the size of your fascia, tweaking materials used on your façade or throughout the showroom, or sourcing furniture alternatives all can add up to big savings.
Dealers, you have more say in your manufacturer-mandated reimaging program than you may think. You know your market, your facility, and your clientele best. The manufacturer’s representative knows their brand, and they are right to protect it. An experienced contractor can act as a conduit between the dealer and the manufacturer to keep both sides happy. By involving a third party at the pre-construction phase, you can get more of what YOU want in your next reimaging program.

Project Profile: Lexus of Milwaukee
The Napleton Group selected Peter Schwabe, Inc. to revamp their Wisconsin Lexus dealerships as part of the 2020 Lexus Facility Image Program. The project included a major face lift of Napleton's Lexus dealership in Milwaukee.
Because this was a live remodel and the showroom needed to be kept operational, Peter Schwabe, Inc. developed a compressed construction schedule to limit the impact a large remodel would have on operations.
Peter Schwabe, Inc. is no stranger to live remodels. Our team is diligent about dust control and keeping the showroom in pristine condition throughout the construction project.
A second part of the dealership remodels consisted of renovations to the Napleton Group's 24,000 square foot service facility. Peter Schwabe, Inc. also completed the renovation of Napleton's Lexus of Brookfield dealership.
